Madrigal Singers
The Green Valley High School Madrigal Singers are one of the eight performing choral ensembles at Green Valley High School. The group consists of thirty-nine singers, who are honors students, distinguished scholars and athletes in the grades 9-12. Many of the students are members of the Clark County School District Honor Choir and the Nevada All-State Choir. The Madrigal Singers represent Green Valley High School and the Clark Country School District in as many as 90 performances a year. They have received consistent superior ratings in local and nation choir festivals in the 18 years of their existence. In 1995, 1997, 2005, and 2006, the Madrigal Singers received the honor of "Command Performance Vocal Ensemble" at the Nevada All-State Music Educators Conference in Reno, Elko, and Las Vegas. They have performed all over the United States including Washington D.C., Florida, Denver, California, and Hawaii. In 2001, the Madrigals shared the honor with the Green Valley High School Music Department of being selected as the "National Grammy School" by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The Green Valley High School Music Department was also named a Grammy Signature School in 2004 and 2006. They have received many "Outstanding Choral Ensemble" and "Adjudicators Awards" at many Heritage Festivals. The Madrigals were selected to perform at the American Choral Directors National Convention in Los Angeles in February 2005. This is their third performance at a Festival of Gold. The Green Valley High School Madrigals Singers are committed to presenting highly artistic interpretations of advanced choral repertoire from the Renaissance period to the music of our time.
